You are probably here because DZone provides an important service to the community. We provide the best set of development links on a daily basis of any other site, and we do that because of you. It’s your votes, and your link submissions that make this such a great place.

What you may not realize is that behind the scenes, we have a group of moderators that remove the links submitted by spammers, scammers, content thieves, abusers and linkjackers.

Let’s define some of these terms, so we’re all on the same page.

• Spammers
  This is fairly self-explanatory. Anybody who wants to submit outright spam will be banned and deleted immediately. We literally have had spam about lawnmowers. What gives?
• Scammers
  Some people feel the need to sign up to DZone with multiple accounts, and vote 2, 3, 18 times on their own links. You may think we don’t notice. You’d be wrong.
• Dirty Rotten Worthless Content Thieves
  If you’ve stolen content from another site, a book, or official documentation and then submitted it to DZone as your own content, then you will be banned.Short Rant: It’s tough enough to write content as it is. When you steal the hard work from somebody else and pass it off as your own, there’s nothing at all that makes me more mad. Barney, get your bullet!
• LinkJackers
  So you found something really cool somewhere else on the web… Great! Submit the actual link to DZone. Don’t write a blog post with nothing of value but the link, and then submit that instead. Nobody wants to have to click from link to link to link to get to the real content.
• Abusers
  So somebody complained about one of your links. What are you going to do, you pinnacle of maturity? You’re going to post 65 unwarranted complaints on the other person’s submitted links just because you are angry. And you are going to be banned.
